QUIK FITT Is Now a DEKA Affiliate: Bringing Fitness, Competition, and Community Together in Lancaster

On September 5, 2026, we reached an exciting milestone at QUIK FITT Private Training Facility. We hosted our very first DEKA event, bringing together athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and members of the fitness community from different gyms and backgrounds for a day of movement, competition, and personal achievement.
As a newly recognized DEKA affiliate, we are excited to bring more of these events to the Antelope Valley and give our community a new way to challenge themselves, set goals, and discover what they are capable of.
And honestly, this is exactly what fitness should be about.
Our First DEKA Event Was One to Remember
There is something special about bringing people together through fitness. You have people coming from different gyms, different training backgrounds, and different fitness levels, all showing up for the same reason: to challenge themselves and see what they can accomplish.
That is exactly what happened at our first DEKA event.
The energy was incredible. Everyone came ready to work, support one another, and push beyond their comfort zones. There was encouragement throughout the event, plenty of hard work, and a whole lot of fun. Every participant crossed the finish line, and everyone walked away with their DEKA event T shirt and medal.
That was one of my favorite parts of the entire day. It was not just about who was the fastest or who lifted the most weight. It was about showing up, putting in the effort, and finishing what you started.
Watching everyone complete the challenge reminded me why I love what I do. As a personal trainer, you get to see people work toward goals every day, but events like this allow people to experience their progress in a completely different way.
They get to put their training to the test, celebrate their accomplishments, and walk away with a real sense of achievement.
Our first event was a success, and we are just getting started.
What Is DEKA and Why Is Everyone Talking About It?
DEKA is a fitness competition built around ten functional fitness zones. It combines strength, endurance, conditioning, and functional movement into a structured challenge that gives participants a measurable way to test their fitness.

Think of it as fitness gamification at its best.
Instead of simply showing up to the gym, completing your usual workout, and heading home, DEKA gives you something specific to work toward. You have a challenge, a goal, and an opportunity to see how your fitness performs under pressure.
You can train for the event, track your progress, compete against your previous performance, and earn your DEKA mark.
What I love most is that it gives your workouts a purpose beyond the workout itself.
When you have an event on the calendar, your mindset starts to change. You are no longer just exercising because you know it is good for you. You are training for something. You have a reason to improve your conditioning, build strength, work on your weaknesses, and stay consistent even when motivation is not always there.
That is one of the biggest benefits of having a fitness goal.
DEKA creates an opportunity to challenge yourself in a supportive environment while making fitness engaging, measurable, and fun.
The Ten Functional Zones That Put Your Fitness to the Test
At QUIK FITT, functional training is already a major part of what we do. Many of the movements used in DEKA are exercises we incorporate into our training programs because they develop strength, conditioning, coordination, and the ability to move efficiently.
Depending on the DEKA event format, the challenge combines ten functional zones with running or other prescribed work.
The movements featured in DEKA training include exercises such as:
The rower to challenge your cardiovascular endurance and full body power.
The SkiErg to develop upper body endurance, core control, and conditioning.
The Assault Bike to push your cardiovascular capacity and mental toughness.
Sled pushes to build lower body strength and power while challenging your work capacity.
Lunges to develop unilateral leg strength, balance, and control.
Box step overs to challenge coordination, stability, and lower body endurance.
Medicine ball sit ups to train core endurance and full body coordination.
Weighted RAM burpees to combine strength, conditioning, and explosive movement.
Farmer's carries to develop grip strength, core stability, and total body control.
These movements are not just exercises to get through as quickly as possible. They require proper technique, body awareness, and the ability to maintain good movement quality as fatigue builds.
That is why preparation matters.
The goal is not simply to complete more repetitions or move faster. It is to build the strength, endurance, and movement efficiency needed to perform well while respecting your body's limitations.
At QUIK FITT, we believe that learning how to move well is just as important as learning how to work hard.
Why We Focus on Proper Form, Effective Movement, and Smart Programming
As a NASM Certified Personal Trainer since 2006, I have spent years working with people from different backgrounds, fitness levels, and training goals. Over the years, I have also pursued additional NASM specializations in areas including corrective exercise,

performance enhancement, nutrition coaching, and behavior change.
That education and experience influence the way we approach training at QUIK FITT.
We do not believe that effective training is about throwing random exercises together, pushing everyone to their limits, or making every workout as exhausting as possible.
Effective training starts with understanding the individual.
How does someone move? What is their current fitness level? What are their strengths? Where do they need improvement? Are they ready for higher intensity, or would they benefit from developing a stronger foundation first?
Those are important questions when designing a training program, especially for an event that combines conditioning, strength, and repeated functional movements.
For someone preparing for DEKA, we want to build the physical qualities that matter for the event while developing good movement habits along the way. That may include improving cardiovascular endurance, building muscular strength, developing core stability, refining exercise technique, and learning how to manage fatigue without allowing form to fall apart.
We also recognize that not everyone starts at the same place.
Some people may already have years of experience lifting weights or competing in fitness events. Others may be stepping into this type of challenge for the very first time.
Our job is to meet people where they are, help them understand their starting point, and create a plan that supports their goals.
That is what makes personal training valuable. Your programming should reflect your needs, not simply copy what someone else is doing.
At QUIK FITT Private Training Facility, our goal is to help you train with purpose, move with confidence, and prepare intelligently for whatever challenge you choose to take on.
Training for DEKA at QUIK FITT Private Training Facility
Now that we are an official DEKA affiliate, we are excited to incorporate this style of event preparation even further into our facility.
Our training space is equipped with tools that support functional strength and conditioning, including rowers, SkiErgs, Assault Bikes, sleds, medicine balls, weights, and other equipment used to develop the physical skills these events demand.
This allows us to work on the different components of performance without relying on one type of training alone.
We can build strength in the weight room, develop endurance on the machines, practice functional movements, and work on transitions between exercises. We can also adjust the intensity and structure of workouts based on the person's experience and goals.
If you are preparing for your first DEKA event, we can help you establish a foundation and progressively work toward the demands of competition.
If you have already competed, we can focus on improving the areas where you want to become stronger, more efficient, and more confident.
And if you are not quite ready to compete, that is completely fine, too. Functional training can improve your everyday fitness, help you build confidence, and give you new goals to work toward.
You do not have to be an elite athlete to start training with purpose.
You just have to be willing to start where you are.
Can You Train for HYROX at QUIK FITT, Too?
Absolutely. Our equipment and approach to functional training also provide a foundation for people who want to prepare for HYROX events.
HYROX is another exciting fitness competition that combines running with functional workout stations. Like DEKA, it gives you a concrete goal to work toward and a reason to develop your strength and endurance in a structured way.
Although DEKA and HYROX have different event formats and demands, both reward consistent preparation, smart programming, and the ability to maintain performance as fatigue builds.
One of the things I appreciate most about these competitions is the way they change your relationship with exercise.
When you sign up for an event and put the date on your calendar, your training becomes more intentional. You begin to think about what you need to improve, how you will measure progress, and what you need to do between now and competition day.
You start showing up with a purpose.
Instead of simply working out, you are training toward something meaningful.
That goal can help you stay accountable, build consistency, and find a new level of motivation. It can also introduce you to a community of people who understand the work that goes into preparing for a challenge.
At QUIK FITT, we want to help people take advantage of that opportunity while making sure their training is appropriate for their experience and physical capabilities.
Fitness Is About More Than What Happens Inside the Gym
One of the biggest reasons I love what we do at QUIK FITT is that the benefits of training extend far beyond the facility.
Yes, we want you to become stronger. We want you to improve your conditioning, build muscle, and develop better movement skills.
But we also want you to feel more confident in yourself.
We want you to walk out of the gym knowing that you did something challenging, that you are making progress, and that you are capable of more than you may have believed when you first started.
That confidence carries into other areas of life.
It shows up when you take on a challenge that once intimidated you. It shows up when you keep going even when something feels difficult. It shows up when you realize that progress does not happen overnight, but the work you put in consistently makes a difference.
Events like DEKA bring those lessons to life.
You see people encouraging one another, celebrating small victories, and pushing through moments when they would rather slow down. You see people discover what they can accomplish when they commit to a goal.
And you see a community come together around something positive.
That is the kind of environment we want to continue building here at QUIK FITT.
